IC Holding, which develops projects with an ever-ependin impact to create a more liveable world and a more prosperous society, organized its "Traditional Sustainability Day" following the publication of its 2023 Sustainability Report themed "Impact of Development." Sharing the progress made and new goals set in this area, IC Holding CEO Can Çaka presented the Group's roadmap, which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 27% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2053. Çaka stated, "We are determined to continue our journey toward a greener and more responsible future together with our suppliers and all stakeholders."
UN Global Compact Türkiye Secretary General Melda Çele, who attended the IC Sustainability Day, said, “Sustainability awareness is increasing in companies, but we need to increase our speed to achieve the goals. 88 percent of companies are taking action in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, progress has only been made in 17 percent of the SDGs to date, and the pace of progress has slowed down due to the pandemic.”
IC Holding came together with its stakeholders on the Traditional Sustainability Day to share its activities and future goals within the framework of its sustainability strategy.
IC Holding CEO Can Çaka stated in his opening speech that they developed projects focusing on ‘Gender Equality’, ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’, ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’ and ‘Climate Action’ from the United Nations SDGs, and said, “Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate approach. We completed the ‘Climate Risk and Opportunity’ study covering all sectors we operate in in 2024. We will continue to work on these risks, opportunities and action maps in 2025. We aim to reduce the Group’s carbon emissions by 27 percent in 2030. We are determined to continue our journey towards a greener and more responsible future with our suppliers and all our stakeholders. We will continue to produce new and effective projects in line with the four sustainable development goals we focus on and develop activities that will support the circular economy.”
Sustainability policies are increasing in the world
UN Global Compact Türkiye Secretary General Melda Çele, who attended IC Holding Sustainability Day, said: “Sustainability awareness is increasing in companies, but we need to increase our speed to achieve the goals. 88 percent of companies are taking action in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On the other hand, progress has been made in only 17 percent of the SDGs to date, and the pace of progress has slowed down due to the pandemic. Although the desired speed has not been achieved on the way to the SDGs, regulations such as the Paris Agreement, the COP agenda, and the acceptance of the environment as a human right in the UN General Assembly are coming one after the other in the field of sustainability. Reporting standards are changing, and the frameworks of these standards are increasingly geared towards gathering and advancing not only the private sector but the entire society on sustainability. Sustainability policies are increasing globally, and the European Union is leading this. We are in a period where competition is being restructured around sustainability. In order not to fall behind in this competition, companies need to take steps today so that they can transform faster and with less cost.”
IC Holding Board of Directors Advisor and UNESCO Türkiye National Commission Sustainable Development 2030 Goals Specialist Committee Vice President Prof. Dr. Barış Alpaslan said, “The concept of sustainability has given way to sustainable development today and has become multidimensional. However, sustainability can fall behind short-term profit targets. However, the success of companies does not depend solely on financial indicators. Well-managed sustainability strategies are the basic building blocks for long-term growth and profitability. In this context, seeing sustainability as an opportunity rather than a necessity is the key to transformation.”
IC Sustainability Day, where the equality, diversity and inclusiveness studies carried out within the scope of DENK Life Academy under the leadership of IC Holding Human and Culture Presidency were explained by Talent Acquisition and Management Senior Manager Derya Dali, continued with the ‘Strategic Steps in Sustainability Reporting’ panel. The panel, moderated by Sustainability Senior Manager Ayçe Canlı, was held with the participation of PwC Türkiye Sustainability Senior Manager Burcu Ece Öztaş Demirci, SKD Türkiye Project Manager Elif Cüceloğlu and Sustainee Founding Partner Ezgi Eğribozlu.
IC Sustainability Team is expanding
